Rated 5 out of 5 by from HH509 Handheld Digital Thermometer The HH509 was easy to set up and use. The construction of the unit is of high quality and seems to be quite durable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Is there an upgrade? We purchase stab probes that we use in your handheld thermocouples but the probes break often and the jack that the probe connects to within the thermocouple wears out and no longer holds the probes in place and/or gives false readings due to poor connection. We are using probe type 88301K probes and HH508 handheld thermometer. Is there and upgraded version that we could invest in to prevent having to re-order probes and thermometers due to the issues noted above?

If I were measuring a point of contact temperature- I'm trying to measure the exact temperature of a heating element, what probe might I use, and would this be an acceptable model to use for the above application?

How often does the HH508 have to be calibrated.

Asked by: Cotton
It is recommended the HH508 be checked for calibration at least once per year and adjusted if out of tolerance.

the HH509 meter has a reading without the probe connected and reading 28.2 C constant. tried reset the meter via removing the battery , did not work. it was recently calibrated

Asked by: LarryM
The meter appears to be reading the internal CJC continuously which may indicate a short circuit. You can jumper between the + and - on the input and if there is no temperature reading change this is most likely the problem and the unit would need to be returned to repair.

Display will show type K, J,T, and E but not S. Wondering if when type is not displayed is that S?

Asked by: Wimil
The HH508 only has icons to highlight for J,K,T and E and if none of these are illuminated then it is set for type S.

The spec's say the meter can resolve 0.1°/1°, but the manual doesn't mention how to change display resolution; how is this done?

Asked by: brucha
The HH509 is a 3 1/2 digit display and will have a 0.1 resolution up to 199.9 then automatically change to 1.0 resolution from 200 degrees and above.

I am using the HH508 to take the temperature of melted butter. Does it matter what type setting is used?

Asked by: Jeff1331
It would depend on the type of thermocouple you are using to take the temperature. If you have a K type thermocouple, that would be the type setting you would want to have it in.
